According to reports, the Ravens are placing wide receiver Diontae Johnson on the suspended list after he was handed a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, which included refusing to play in a game.
Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta released the following statement:
“We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants due to conduct detrimental to the team. This suspension stems from his refusal to enter the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.”
Since being traded to Baltimore from Carolina midseason, Johnson has had limited playing time and has caught just one pass.
The 28-year-old Johnson was drafted in the third round (No. 66 overall) by the Steelers in 2019 out of Toledo. He signed a four-year, $4.25 million contract, including a $1.13 million signing bonus.
Set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2023, Johnson signed a two-year, $36 million extension before the 2022 season. He was traded to Carolina in exchange for cornerback Donte Jackson and a pick swap before the 2024 season, and then dealt to the Ravens midseason for another pick swap.
In 2024, Johnson has played in 11 games, recording 31 catches on 63 targets for 363 yards and three touchdowns.
