As a senior at Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville, McRoy was a 4-star recruit, ranked as the No. 165 offensive tackle and No. 199 overall prospect in the 2024 class.

On3’s industry rankings place McRoy as the No. 11 offensive tackle in the NCAA transfer portal, and he is the only true freshman in the top 15, which is otherwise dominated by upperclassmen. He is also ranked No. 137 overall among transfers.

McRoy has four years of eligibility left after redshirting this season with the top-ranked, undefeated Oregon Ducks.
