On Saturday, the Miami Dolphins announced they have released one of their quarterbacks.
The team waived quarterback Skylar Thompson, a 7th-round pick in 2022. As a result, Tua Tagovailoa and Tyler Huntley are now the only quarterbacks remaining on the Dolphins’ roster.
Thompson has started three regular-season games in his career. He started two games in 2022 and one this season in Week 3 when Tagovailoa was sidelined with a concussion. Miami posted a 1-2 record in those games, with a 24-3 loss to the Seahawks in Thompson’s start this season. He left that game with a chest injury and was replaced by Tim Boyle.

Thompson is most remembered by fans for starting in the Dolphins’ Wild Card playoff game against the Buffalo Bills during the 2022 season. In that game, Thompson went 18-for-45 with 220 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
In his regular-season career, Thompson has completed 81 of 138 passes (58.7 percent) for 721 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.
There is a possibility Thompson could be added to the Dolphins’ practice squad if he clears waivers. His release comes just one day after the team also waived Odell Beckham Jr.
