Northwestern 5-Star CB Commits to Oregon Ducks

Dan Lanning is making moves in the winter transfer portal. On Sunday afternoon, the Oregon head coach secured his second transfer commitment of the postseason, this time from a Big Ten program. Junior cornerback Theran Johnson, previously with Northwestern, announced he would be transferring to Eugene after three seasons with the Wildcats.

Johnson, who was a three-star recruit in high school in 2021 and remains a three-star transfer, is a redshirt junior with one season of eligibility remaining as he joins the Ducks.

Throughout his three years at Northwestern, Johnson built a solid resume, and his skills are expected to complement Oregon’s already talented secondary.

So far, only three Ducks have entered the portal since it opened on Dec. 9 and will close on Dec. 28. These players include redshirt freshman Tyler Turner, along with true freshmen Jaxson Jones and Jac’Qawn McRoy. Under head coach Dan Lanning, Oregon has secured the second-highest-rated recruiting class for 2025 and the top-rated class for 2026.

The top-ranked Oregon Ducks are set to play in the Rose Bowl Game as part of their quarterfinal matchup in the College Football Playoffs on Jan. 1 at 2 p.m. PT on ESPN.
