Oregon Football Lands 2027 QB Prospect with Big Offer
The Oregon Ducks are making major moves for the future! After securing two 2025 commitments in quarterback Akili Smith Jr. and athlete Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele earlier this month, and landing four-star 2026 QB Jonas Williams earlier this year, Oregon is setting its sights on the next big wave of talent.
The latest to catch their eye is 6-foot-2, 181-pound quarterback Jameson Purcell out of Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Illinois. Purcell recently announced that he’s received a scholarship offer from the Ducks, adding to an impressive list of suitors.
Before Oregon’s offer, Purcell already had offers from top programs like Indiana, Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss, Miami, UCLA, and Washington. With his impressive skill set, Purcell is quickly becoming one of the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class. The Ducks are clearly serious about securing their next star signal-caller!
As a sophomore this season, Jameson Purcell had a standout year, leading Maine South High School to an 8-4 record. The talented quarterback threw for 2,572 yards, 30 touchdowns, and completed an impressive 70% of his passes, showcasing why he’s becoming a hot commodity for top programs.
Oregon is already making a strong push for the top quarterbacks in the 2027 class, having extended offers to six prospects. Among them are highly-rated players like Ohio State commit Brady Edmunds (Top 15 nationally), Westin Nielsen (Top 40 overall), and Trent Seaborn (Top 100), alongside unranked talents like Purcell, Daniel Mielke, and Sione Kaho. As of now, the Ducks have yet to secure any verbal commitments for the 2027 class, but they’re clearly making waves early in the recruiting process.
In a November 2023 interview with 247Sports’ Tom Loy, Jameson Purcell, then just a freshman, shared his early college preferences. Reflecting on his visits and experiences, Purcell mentioned, “I have been fortunate to visit many campuses and have attended a variety of camps, and each experience is unique to that particular school. My favorites right now, in no particular order, are Notre Dame, Michigan, Auburn, and Ole Miss. I also really like Tennessee and would love to visit Oklahoma.” His growing list of suitors suggests that he’s quickly becoming one of the most sought-after quarterbacks in the 2027 class.
While the 2027 recruiting class still has plenty of time before players sign their letters of intent, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and his staff are already hard at work identifying top talent and extending offers. Jameson Purcell is the latest quarterback to receive an offer from the Ducks, and he’s an intriguing prospect to watch in the coming years. As Oregon continues to build its future roster, Purcell’s skills and potential make him a standout addition to their growing list of offers at the quarterback position.
