The Chargers and Ravens, each with 9 wins, hold tiebreakers over Denver, making it a long shot for the Broncos to leapfrog them even if they win their final two games. As things stand, the Broncos are likely competing for the 6th or 7th seed, with the 7th seed being the most realistic outcome.
The Broncos’ playoff hopes now depend on a crucial road game against the Cincinnati Bengals on December 28. A win would secure a playoff spot, but they must also finish the season strong at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. Meanwhile, the Bengals have a challenging schedule, including games against the Broncos and Steelers, while the Indianapolis Colts, despite losing to Denver head-to-head, remain a threat. The Colts’ remaining games—against the Titans, Giants, and Jaguars—could see them overtake the Broncos if they win out.
The Miami Dolphins, facing a tough matchup against the 49ers, are also at risk of dropping out of playoff contention. However, the Broncos’ biggest concern is their 1-6 record against teams with winning records, including bad losses to the Ravens, Chargers, and Chiefs. With just one more win needed to secure a playoff spot, the Broncos must overcome their inconsistency and regroup quickly to make the postseason.
