As the Miami Dolphins prepare for their Week 16 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, the team is continuing with its usual practice routine. However, a new name has appeared on the injury list.
Tua Tagovailoa was listed as a limited participant in the Dolphins’ first injury report of Week 16, released on Wednesday.
This is just the first report of the week, so there’s no need for fans to be overly concerned yet. However, some are worried since the injury is listed as a “hip,” which is significant because it was a hip issue that sidelined him during the final weeks of his time at Alabama.
The Dolphins tend to keep details about mid-week injuries sparse, so there isn’t much information available at this stage. It’s a situation to keep an eye on throughout the week. After Wednesday’s practice, Tagovailoa spoke to the media, and no questions were asked about his hip. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel also did not address the issue in his media session. More updates are expected later in the week.
Along with Tagovailoa, it seems that Terron Armstead is still dealing with a knee injury that kept him out last week. The veteran has given his best effort, but he may need to sit out for the remainder of the season, especially if the Dolphins lose on Sunday.
Head coach Mike McDaniel also mentioned that it’s unlikely Dee Eskridge will play this week. Additionally, Miami placed Grant Dubose on injured reserve on Thursday after the hit he sustained last Sunday. If Jaylen Waddle, who is dealing with a knee injury, is unable to play this weekend, the Dolphins’ wide receiver corps will be stretched thin, even after signing Isaiah McKenzie earlier this week.

When asked about Waddle, McDaniel stated that they are taking his situation day to day, but the receiver did not practice on Wednesday. With only two more practices before Sunday’s game, the chances of him playing appear slim at this point.
In total, eight Dolphins players were absent from practice on Wednesday, including Calais Campbell, Tyreek Hill, and Jordan Poyer, who were given rest days.
