Ducks Shake Up Roster as Top Starter Cut Ties

Oregon released four-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson from his financial aid agreement on Thursday, according to sources. This decision came two weeks after Wilson, ESPN’s No. 39 overall prospect, had signed with the Ducks during the early signing period.

The 6-foot-4 wide receiver from Tampa, Florida, submitted a request for release on Tuesday, seeking to be closer to home due to a family member’s health issues. Oregon formally approved his request on Thursday.

Wilson now plans to sign with Florida and enroll next month, as confirmed by his agent, Vernell Brown Jr. of EL1TE Sports Management Group.

Ranked No. 7 among wide receiver prospects for the 2025 class by ESPN, Wilson was a key part of Oregon’s recruiting class, which finished the early signing period ranked No. 1. A dynamic, big-play threat, Wilson recorded 130 receptions for 2,423 yards and 28 touchdowns in three seasons at Tampa Bay Tech High School.

Wilson committed to Oregon on January 17, 2023, becoming the first member of Coach Dan Lanning’s 2025 class. He stayed committed despite late interest from schools like Florida, Miami, and Florida State, signing with the Ducks on December 4. However, just 15 days later, he was granted his release and will now join Florida’s recruiting class, adding to its offensive talent around quarterback DJ Lagway.

Florida’s 2025 recruiting class has strengthened during the early signing period, with notable commitments like five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord, and the class is expected to maintain its position near the top of ESPN’s rankings despite Wilson’s departure.

Wilson’s signing with Florida will contribute to one of the nation’s most talented wide receiver groups for the 2025 cycle, joining fellow ESPN 300 prospects Vernell Brown III (No. 44), Naeshaun Montgomery (No. 116), and former Arizona pledge Muizz Tounkara. This will bolster Florida’s offense, which averaged 27.8 points in its final six regular-season games.

Vernell Brown Jr., Wilson’s agent and the father of Brown III, previously played cornerback for the Gators from 2001 to 2005 under coach Billy Napier.

Florida (7-5) is set to play Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
