Baltimore Ravens QB sets new NFL rushing record in victory over Houston.

Lamar Jackson made history on Christmas Day, breaking the NFL career rushing record for quarterbacks during the Baltimore Ravens‘ dominant 31-2 win over the Houston Texans. Jackson’s 48-yard touchdown run, where he reached a career-high speed of 21.25 mph, was a highlight in his record-breaking performance. With 6,110 career rushing yards, Jackson surpassed Michael Vick’s previous record of 6,109.

Jackson also threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Ravens to their third straight win. His performance, including a 48-yard touchdown run and a 6-yard rushing touchdown to set the record, further bolstered his MVP candidacy. “Michael Vick, one of my favorite players,” Jackson said, reflecting on his achievement.

The Ravens (11-5) have secured a playoff berth and need a win over Cleveland to clinch the AFC North. Meanwhile, the Texans (9-7) struggled, losing their second straight game. C.J. Stroud, who threw for 185 yards, took responsibility for the loss, calling it one of his worst games. The Texans also lost dynamic receiver Tank Dell to a season-ending injury.

Derrick Henry had a standout performance for Baltimore, rushing for 147 yards and setting a season record with his 16th touchdown. The Texans’ offense faltered, only scoring a safety in the second quarter, while the Ravens’ defense capitalized on mistakes, including an interception by Kyle Hamilton and several key sacks on Stroud.

Despite a strong kickoff return from Dameon Pierce and a safety, Houston’s offense failed to finish drives. Jackson’s 99-yard drive and a touchdown pass to Isaiah Likely made it 17-2 at halftime, marking the first 17-2 score in NFL history. Jackson’s dominance continued in the second half, with the Ravens pushing their lead to 31-2. Looking ahead, the Ravens host the Browns while the Texans visit the Titans next weekend.
