Blazers Lose $160 Million Star Forward as He`s Headed for a New Chapter

Although the Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the top teams in the NBA this season, don’t be surprised if they seek to strengthen their roster before the February 6 NBA trade deadline. With a 23-5 record, they are currently leading the Western Conference.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is once again in the MVP race, and Jalen Williams is playing at an All-Star level. The Thunder have continued to dominate, even without one of their top young players, Chet Holmgren, who has been sidelined since early November due to a hip injury.

While Oklahoma City is expected to be a championship contender in the playoffs, assuming they stay healthy, their general manager, Sam Presti, may still look to make a move before the trade deadline. One potential target could be Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant.

Would the Portland Trail Blazers be making a mistake by not trade Jerami Grant?

According to Evan Sidery of Forbes, the Portland Trail Blazers have reduced their asking price for Jerami Grant. Portland is now reportedly willing to trade the 30-year-old forward for one first-round pick and a promising prospect, down from their previous demand of two first-rounders.

Grant is under contract through the 2027-28 season, earning $30 million annually. This season, he has been averaging 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 38.2% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc.

In a potential trade, the Oklahoma City Thunder could offer Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, and a first-round pick to acquire Grant and Duop Reath. This move would bolster the Thunder’s forward position and add valuable frontcourt depth with Reath.

While Grant has faced some struggles this season, a change of scenery could help him regain his form. As a strong scorer and defender, he would significantly strengthen Oklahoma City’s lineup, making them even more formidable as they pursue a championship this season.
