Walker Buehler Speaks Out to Dodgers Fans Let Down by Christmas Jerseys.
Walker Buehler will always hold a special place in the hearts of Los Angeles Dodgers fans, thanks to his pivotal role in their World Series run back in October. Fans will remember Buehler as the one who sealed the Game 5 win during their historic victory over the New York Yankees — a moment of redemption for a player who had battled through numerous injuries during his time with the Dodgers. However, a new chapter begins for Buehler as he made the decision to sign with the Boston Red Sox in this year’s free agency.
Given how much Walker Buehler is adored by the Dodgers fanbase, it’s no surprise that many likely received a Buehler #21 jersey for Christmas. Despite his move to the Boston Red Sox, the 30-year-old pitcher, who still holds the Dodgers close to his heart, is grateful for all the support.
“The #21 Dodgers unis you guys got today are still cool! I’m gonna wear a different one next year, but I appreciate y’all rockin’ ‘em nonetheless!” Buehler shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Since making his big league debut in 2017, Buehler has been a key player for the Dodgers. He was once among the league’s top starters, recording a total WAR (per Fangraphs) of 14.4 from 2018 to 2021, with standout seasons in 2019 and 2021, where he posted WARs of 5.1 and 5.6, respectively.
However, the last three years have been a challenging journey for Buehler in Dodger blue. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022, his road to recovery was a tough one. But his departure from the team, crowned by a World Series title, is nothing short of a redemption story.
