The Pittsburgh Steelers are likely to be without cornerback Joey Porter Jr. for the remainder of the regular season due to a knee injury. Porter, who suffered a PCL sprain during the team’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, is expected to miss their upcoming game against the Bengals.
However, the Steelers anticipate he’ll be ready to return for the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, providing a boost for the team when they enter postseason play.
Porter sustained the injury while making a tackle, with his knee being driven into the ground. Initially, the injury was thought to be a calf issue, but further evaluation revealed it to be a knee problem. He was unable to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on a short week and is not expected to return for the Bengals game either.
In his absence, the Steelers have relied on Donte Jackson and Cory Trice. James Pierre started against the Chiefs, but Trice saw 31 more snaps by the end of the game and performed well in his first extended NFL action.
