Florida State is overhauling its defensive front this offseason following the departure of several players to the NCAA Transfer Portal. With these changes and the Seminoles transitioning to a 3-3-5 multiple scheme under defensive coordinator Tony White, the defense will look significantly different in 2025.
The Seminoles have already added two defensive line transfers in December and are continuing to pursue more through the portal. According to 247Sports, FSU is among the schools that have reached out to Oregon defensive end transfer Jaeden Moore.
Moore recently completed his second season with the Ducks, where he was part of the defensive rotation, playing in all 13 games. He recorded six tackles, one tackle for loss, and 0.5 sacks, while also contributing 16 pressures, including 14 quarterback hurries. However, he missed 20% of his tackle attempts. Moore, who played 104 defensive snaps, earned an overall grade of 62.7 from PFF.
A native of California, Moore joined Oregon as a three-star recruit in the 2023 class. He played in only four games as a true freshman, preserving his redshirt. Over his two seasons, he appeared in 17 games, accumulating eight tackles, one tackle for loss, 0.5 sacks, and two pass deflections.
At 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, Moore is expected to have three years of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
Florida State has three scholarship defensive ends eligible to return for 2025: redshirt senior Jaden Jones, redshirt junior Aaron Hester, and redshirt freshman DD Holmes. Additionally, the Seminoles signed four-star recruits LaJesse Harrold, Tylon Lee, three-star Darryll Desir, and three-star Mandrell Desir during the Early Signing Period.
FSU also recently added former Nebraska defensive end James Williams and former Western Kentucky defensive lineman Deante McCray via the transfer portal.
