Commanders’ Star Player Lands Big Payday Ahead of Playoffs!
The Washington Commanders are off to a stunning start in their first season with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. With an impressive 11-5 record, they head into the final week of the regular season, set to face the 7-9 Dallas Cowboys on the road.
However, veteran tight end Zach Ertz received some amazing news just before their final game of the season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Zach Ertz’s game-winning touchdown catch, which secured a wild-card spot for the Commanders, also marked his sixth touchdown of the season, earning him a $250,000 bonus.
In addition to that, Ertz pocketed another $250K for surpassing 600 receiving yards and another $250K for catching over 60 passes this season — all of which he achieved on Sunday night.
Talk about a memorable night for Zach Ertz: He not only caught the game-winning touchdown pass to secure a wild-card spot for the Commanders, but he also earned a whopping $750K in incentives! To top it off, Ertz passed Ozzie Newsome to move into 9th place on the all-time list for tight-end receiving yards. And if that wasn’t enough, it all happened on his mother, Lisa Ertz’s birthday — making the moment even more special.
Entering Sunday night, Commanders tight end Zach Ertz had recorded 55 catches for 538 yards and four touchdowns. But against the Falcons, he put on a show, catching six passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Now, his season totals stand at 61 catches, 610 yards, and six touchdowns.
As a result, Ertz earned $750K in incentives:
- $250K for reaching 6 touchdowns
- $250K for surpassing 600 receiving yards
- $250K for exceeding 60 catches
