Kevin O’Connell Makes Bold Move to Snag NFC East’s Top QB

The Vikings have yet to elevate quarterback Daniel Jones from the practice squad for any games since he joined the team, but head coach Kevin O’Connell mentioned that the team will consider adding him to the active roster this week.

If Jones ends the season on the active roster, the Vikings could receive a compensatory draft pick based on a contract he signs with another team. O’Connell stated during his Monday press conference that the team would discuss the timing of this decision.

He also praised Jones for his “quietly phenomenal work” behind the scenes since arriving in Minnesota but refrained from commenting on whether his signing would impact the depth chart.

O’Connell added, “All stuff to be talked about,” noting that coaches have mainly focused on preparing players while Jones follows his individual plan.

Currently, Nick Mullens and Brett Rypien are the backup quarterbacks behind Sam Darnold on the Vikings’ 53-man roster.
