EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have ruled backup edge rusher Patrick Jones out for their game against the Detroit Lions due to a knee injury caused by a low block from Green Bay tight end Tucker Kraft last week.
Jones did not participate in practice this week, making him unavailable for the regular-season finale against the Lions, which will decide the NFC North champion and the NFC’s top playoff seed.
Jones, who ranks third on the Vikings with seven sacks, will be replaced by rookie Dallas Turner, who will support starting outside linebackers Andrew Van Ginkel and Jonathan Greenard. Both Van Ginkel and Greenard were recently named Pro Bowl starters.
Meanwhile, the Lions have listed linebacker Alex Anzalone as questionable for the game against the Vikings. Anzalone has missed the last six games due to a broken forearm. Backup wide receiver Kalif Raymond, who has been out for five games with a foot injury, is also listed as questionable. Running back David Montgomery, who is dealing with a knee injury, has been ruled out for a third consecutive game but the Lions are hopeful to have him back for the playoffs.
