The Miami Dolphins are set to continue with their current leadership for at least one more season.
Despite a challenging 2024 season, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross expressed his support for both head coach Mike McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier on Sunday, following the team’s season finale against the New York Jets. Ross issued a statement reaffirming his confidence in the duo.
Ross also took responsibility for the team’s performance this season, acknowledging the shortcomings.
“As the owner, I am ultimately accountable for both our successes and failures,” the statement said. “We fell short of our expectations this season, and I understand and share the frustration regarding our on-field performance.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Ross confirmed that Grier and McDaniel will continue to lead the team with his full backing. He emphasized that their strong working relationship is valuable to the Dolphins, and he believes in the importance of maintaining stability.
Ross clarified that this decision doesn’t signal complacency and promised that the team will carefully review the issues from the 2024 season.
The Dolphins began the year with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars but went on to lose six of their next seven games. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also faced another head injury scare, leading to calls for his retirement.
Despite closing the year with a 6-3 record over their final nine games, the Dolphins missed out on a playoff spot for the third consecutive year.
