Oklahoma State linebacker commits to Oklahoma.
Oklahoma has been focused on strengthening its offense during the winter transfer portal window, but the defense also received a major boost with the addition of Kendal Daniels, a former Oklahoma State standout. Daniels, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound versatile defender, has committed to join the Sooners for the 2025 season and beyond. He chose OU over strong competition from programs like Penn State and Miami.
Over four years at Oklahoma State, Daniels accumulated 240 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, five interceptions, and 13 pass breakups. Ranked No. 131 overall in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings, Daniels is one of the top four linebackers available this winter.
A former four-star recruit from Beggs, Oklahoma, Daniels initially chose Oklahoma State, where he became a key contributor after redshirting in 2021. In 2022, he was named Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year as a safety, recording 71 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and eight pass breakups. In 2023, he transitioned to a hybrid linebacker role, posting 105 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and two interceptions.
Daniels’ 2024 season was a career year. As a true linebacker, he set career highs with 10.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, alongside 23 pressures and 64 tackles. He also posted a career-low 16 missed tackles. His Pro Football Focus defensive grade was 63.0, with solid pass rush and coverage ratings.
Daniels’ versatility fills a key need for the Sooners at linebacker following departures like Dasan McCullough and Lewis Carter. He will provide immediate impact at either linebacker or the Cheetah position as he completes his career at Oklahoma.
