Vikings Rule Out Defensive Lineman for Wild Card Game Against Rams.
The Minnesota Vikings have officially downgraded defensive lineman Taki Taimani to out for Monday night’s Wild Card playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams. Taimani, who was previously listed as questionable due to an ankle injury, is still within his 21-day evaluation window as he attempts to return from Injured Reserve. The team will move forward without him as they prepare for the playoff matchup.
In a related move, the Vikings have signed offensive tackle Marcellus Johnson to their practice squad, marking his second stint with the team this season. Johnson had also spent time on the New York Giants‘ practice squad during the 2024 regular season. He originally signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft and participated in all three of their preseason games.
A native of Illinois, Johnson played a total of 54 games in his collegiate career, which spanned two schools: Eastern Michigan (2018-22) and Missouri (2023). With this addition, the Vikings are bolstering their depth on the roster as they continue their postseason push. Johnson’s experience could prove valuable as the team looks to strengthen its lineup heading into the Wild Card round.
