Notre Dame brings in 4 players through the transfer portal.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been laser-focused on the National Championship ever since their first-round game a month ago, keeping the details of their offseason plans under wraps. But, as we saw over the Christmas season, the transfer portal is still bringing talent to South Bend.
Recently, the Irish secured commitments from four key players via the portal:
- Jared Dawson, DT — Louisville Cardinals
- Elijah Hughes, DT — USC Trojans
- Jalen Stroman, DB — Virginia Tech Hokies
- Noah Brunette, K — North Carolina Tar Heels
Notre Dame’s pursuit of defensive linemen paid off with the addition of Dawson and Hughes, who, while not yet major stars, have the potential to thrive under the Irish coaching staff’s tutelage. Hughes, in particular, still has multiple years of eligibility left, adding depth to the trenches.
Jalen Stroman was viewed as a potential day-two NFL draft pick heading into the 2024 season, but his year was cut short due to injury. Nonetheless, his experience and ability in the defensive backfield make him a solid addition to an already impressive defensive unit.
Though Notre Dame has a kicker coming in the 2025 class, the addition of Noah Brunette, a 2nd Team All-ACC kicker, brings valuable veteran experience to the team’s special teams.
A big reason the Irish are contending for a national championship is the strategic success they’ve had in the transfer portal, so there’s plenty of reason for optimism about the impact these new players will have on the program. With a few departures expected, the future looks bright in South Bend.
