For a high school running back, few places offer a better opportunity than playing college football at Notre Dame.
The Irish offense centers around running backs and tight ends, with a greater emphasis on the backs this season. Jeremiyah Love has been the standout, though Jadarian Price and freshman Aneyas Williams have also seen significant playing time.
This focus on running backs is an easy selling point for Notre Dame’s coaching staff when recruiting, and it played a role in offering one of the nation’s top recruits on Thursday: Jonathan Hatton Jr. from Texas. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 205 pounds, Hatton is ranked as the No. 41 overall recruit by 247Sports Composite Rankings and is also a standout in track and field.
Hatton had previously committed to Oklahoma but reopened his recruitment in December after receiving multiple offers. The goal now is to bring him to campus in the spring, which is likely the intention behind extending the offer.
