The Detroit Lions’ season came to a bitter end after a tough loss to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round of the playoffs on Saturday night.
Now, the focus shifts for Lions general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell to the offseason, where their goal is to improve the roster and make a stronger push in 2025.
With the defeat, the Lions will pick 28th in this year’s NFL Draft. The teams that lose in the Divisional Round are slotted in positions 25 through 28 based on their regular-season records, and with their impressive 15-2 finish, Detroit secures the 28th pick.
This isn’t the Lions’ first time picking at No. 28; they previously chose Duke guard Laken Tomlinson in 2015. Other notable players selected at No. 28 in recent years include Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy (2024) and Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen (2020, now with the Ravens).
