Alabama head coach Kalen Deboer and offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan have been busy on the recruiting trail since the end of the 2024 season. The duo has recently traveled across the southeast, meeting with some of the top prospects from the 2026 class and beyond.
On Monday, the two coaches were in Tennessee to visit Jared Curtis, the No. 2 ranked quarterback in the 2026 class, at his home in Nashville. Curtis recently listed Alabama as one of his top six schools, along with Ohio State, Oregon, Auburn, Georgia, and South Carolina.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 225 pounds, Jared Curtis is the top-ranked player in Tennessee and holds offers from over 40 Division I programs. Known for his accuracy as a passer and his ability to extend plays with his legs, Curtis excels in the pocket.
Playing for Nashville Christian School, he has had an impressive three years on the varsity team, amassing over 7,600 passing yards and 92 touchdowns with a 61% completion rate. Curtis began his football career as a running back but transitioned to quarterback in his freshman year, where he threw for 2,313 yards and 27 touchdowns, earning runner-up honors for Tennessee’s Mr. Football.
Currently, Alabama has just one commitment for the 2026 class: cornerback Zyan Gibson. According to 247Sports’ composite ranking, the Tide are ranked No. 46 nationally and 12th in the SEC.
Though the class is still in its early stages, with only one commitment so far, there’s plenty of time for DeBoer and his staff to add high-quality recruits. In DeBoer’s first offseason, despite challenges, the coaching staff managed to pull together a second-ranked class on short notice, followed by another second-ranked class this year.
