Pittsburgh Steelers Officially Sign Speedy NFC West RB

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Monday that they are signing running back Jonathan Ward to a reserve/future contract. He becomes the 18th player added to the team following the season as they work to finalize their 90-man roster.

Ward appeared in four games for the Steelers, primarily contributing on special teams. He recorded five carries for 22 yards, with most of his playing time coming as a result of injuries in the running back room.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Signed after a rookie minicamp tryout, Ward, known for his speed and leadership, impressed during training camp despite dealing with a hamstring injury, which earned him a spot on the practice squad.

An undrafted free agent from Central Michigan in the 2020 NFL Draft, Ward has previously played for the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans. He joins Aaron Shampklin and Evan Hull as the third running back added to the Steelers’ roster following the season, with Najee Harris expected to leave the team this offseason.
