Tennessee had previously pursued Pendleton during his high school recruitment, but he ultimately committed to Notre Dame over the Vols. Despite this, he spoke highly of Tennessee during his 2022 campus visit.

“Coach Elarbee is an outstanding person and coach,” Pendleton said in 2022. “He’s very knowledgeable and great to discuss film with. I had the opportunity to review some of my game tape with him, and he pointed out aspects he liked and areas for improvement. Overall, he’s just a fantastic coach and person.”

During his redshirt freshman season at Notre Dame, Pendleton started seven games at left guard and appeared in 12 games overall, playing both right and left guard. He was a vital part of the offensive line that helped the Fighting Irish reach the College Football Playoff national championship game.

Pendleton brings a wealth of experience and success, having not surrendered a sack in 2024. He allowed only three quarterback hurries, six pressures, and three hits throughout the season.

His experience could be crucial for Tennessee’s offensive line, which is in need of reinforcement following significant departures. Pendleton’s track record against top competition makes him a valuable asset as the Vols look to strengthen their interior line.

He is expected to be a leading contender for a starting guard position as head coach Josh Heupel works to rebuild the offensive line. Regardless of where he fits in, Pendleton’s arrival provides much-needed depth and experience to Tennessee’s offensive front.
