Oregon Ducks key star officially part ways ahead of NFL draft

Quarterback’s Farewell Message to Oregon Fans Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

The Oregon Ducks didn’t finish their season as they had hoped, falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Despite that, their campaign was still impressive, with a 13-1 record and a conference title after defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten Championship Game. Looking ahead to 2025, the team will undergo significant changes, one of the most notable being the departure of quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who is entering the 2025 NFL Draft.

Before moving on, Gabriel shared a heartfelt farewell message to Oregon fans on X. “In recent weeks, I’ve taken some time to reflect on what this year has meant to me, and I am filled with gratitude and pride,” he wrote. “I want to express my deepest thanks to Oregon and Duck Nation for believing in me and for your unwavering support throughout this incredible season.”

Gabriel played a crucial role in Oregon’s offense, which ranked 17th in points per game (34.9) and 22nd in total yards per game (437.4). Over the course of 14 games, he completed 326 of 447 passes for 3,857 yards, 30 touchdowns, six interceptions, and a 164.9 passing efficiency rating. With 149 rushing yards and seven touchdowns added to his stats, it’s no surprise he finished third in Heisman Trophy voting.

While the draft is always uncertain, Pro Football Focus ranks Gabriel as the No. 3 quarterback and No. 69 overall prospect.
