Jim Knowles is certainly in high demand after his impressive season at Ohio State. It’s not often you see a defensive coordinator commanding such attention, especially with those kinds of offers coming from major programs like Penn State, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame. His success with Ohio State’s No. 1 defense has really put him at the center of this offseason’s coaching carousel.
Penn State’s offer of $3.2 million is a bold move, especially considering they haven’t historically paid assistants at that level. If they manage to pull it off, it would be a huge win for James Franklin, especially with the roster still stacked for another run at a playoff appearance. But, as you pointed out, Ohio State and Oklahoma both have the financial power to keep Knowles, and Notre Dame might be lurking as well.
It seems like this is shaping up to be one of the more exciting coaching battles of the offseason, and it’s going to be interesting to see how it plays out. If Penn State can land Knowles, it would definitely be a big statement, but with so many heavy hitters involved, it’s tough to predict the outcome. What’s your take—do you think he stays with Ohio State or does he make the jump?
