Ravens Eyeing Split with $97.5 Million Starter This Offseason.
After a tough divisional-round loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens are heading into a crucial offseason filled with tough choices. With just $17.3 million in projected cap space, the Ravens may have to part ways with some veteran players, and cornerback Marlon Humphrey is emerging as a top candidate.
As the team’s second-highest cap hit next season, cutting Humphrey could free up $12.7 million in space. However, such a move would create a void at a position that was already a concern in 2024. Even though the Ravens could turn to younger options like Nate Wiggins or Brandon Stephens, both have their uncertainties. A contract restructure or extension for Humphrey could be a more likely outcome, though his age might make him a release candidate. Other veterans, such as cornerback Arthur Maulet, could also be on the chopping block.
“Though cutting Arthur Maulet would only save the Ravens $2.3 million, every penny matters as they work to reload for another Super Bowl run,” the report stated. After being in win-now mode last offseason with the addition of All-Pro running back Derrick Henry, the Ravens will need to carefully balance their roster moves to avoid creating new gaps while managing the salary cap.
