Eagles Make History, Claim NFC Crown, and Head to Super Bowl LIX

The Philadelphia Eagles are the NFC Champions!

The Eagles will now face the winner of the AFC Championship Game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, which will take place in New Orleans.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts was responsible for four total touchdowns, with three of them coming on the ground. Running back Saquon Barkley added three touchdowns of his own, while the Eagles took advantage of four Washington turnovers, converting them into touchdowns to dominate their NFC East rivals for the second time this season and the first time ever in the playoffs. The Eagles’ 55-23 victory set a new record for the most points scored in an NFC Championship Game.

Sunday’s win marked the fifth NFC Championship in franchise history, with the first occurring during the 1980 season when the Eagles played in the Super Bowl in New Orleans. This title is the fourth for Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie during his tenure.

The Eagles have set a franchise record with 17 wins in a single season, including the playoffs. The 2024 season marks their fourth year with 15 or more wins (including playoffs), all of which have led to a Super Bowl appearance.

The win over the Commanders also extended their streak to 10 consecutive victories at Lincoln Financial Field, the longest such streak in a single season, including playoffs.
