Browns hype top QB prospect as fans rally for alternative pick.
The Cleveland Browns hold the No. 2 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, with many expecting them to select a quarterback. While Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders are likely candidates, Jaxson Dart has recently entered the conversation, adding intrigue to Cleveland’s strategy.
The Browns are in need of a quarterback following the underwhelming Deshaun Watson experiment, and with the Titans expected to pick a QB at No. 1, Cleveland will follow suit. Fans have expressed strong support for Sanders, even blasting his song “Perfect Timing” outside Huntington Bank Stadium during a protest related to Myles Garrett’s trade request.
Despite the fan push, recent comments from Browns coaches and executives have raised Dart’s profile. The Ole Miss quarterback impressed at the Senior Bowl, where he was coached by Cleveland’s special teams coordinator, Bubba Ventrone, who praised Dart’s confidence and play on the field. General Manager Andrew Berry echoed this sentiment, fueling speculation that Dart may be a serious contender for the Browns’ first-round pick.
However, not everyone is sold on Dart as a first-round talent. Two AFC rivals have expressed doubts about his outlook, and an NFC scout criticized the Ole Miss offensive system, calling it “a mess” for incoming QBs that may not translate to the NFL.
Dart’s draft stock is currently mixed, with Cleveland potentially viewing him more favorably than others. Despite positive comments during Senior Bowl week, the Browns may not view him as a top pick, leaving fans hoping for either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders.
