The Jets have finalized their offensive coaching staff with the addition of six new assistants to work under offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand. Head coach Aaron Glenn has also retained three offensive assistants, including wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson.
Scott Turner – Senior Assistant/Pass Game Coordinator
Scott Turner, entering his 14th season in the NFL, has a wealth of experience, having recently served as the Raiders’ play-caller during the final eight games of last season. Turner previously held roles as offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders and as the Panthers’ quarterbacks coach. He has also coached quarterbacks in Minnesota, where he helped guide Teddy Bridgewater to a Pro Bowl season. Turner is the son of former NFL coach Norv Turner, and has a background in psychology and coaching, with stints in both college and the NFL.
Jeff Blasko – Tight Ends
Blasko, who spent the last four years with head coach Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys, is now joining the Jets as tight ends coach. Over the years, Blasko has worked in various roles with the Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Browns, and Dallas Cowboys. A Pittsburgh native, Blasko’s coaching journey began at the high school level before moving on to coaching at Robert Morris University and in the NFL.
Steve Heiden – Offensive Line
Heiden, a former NFL tight end, has spent the last two years coaching the Lions’ tight ends under Aaron Glenn. Prior to this, Heiden held multiple offensive roles with the Arizona Cardinals. Over his 11-year playing career, Heiden played for the Chargers and Browns, amassing over 1,600 yards and 14 touchdowns. His coaching philosophy is centered on physicality, focusing on winning with toughness and discipline.
Shawn Jefferson – Wide Receivers
Jefferson returns as the Jets’ wide receivers coach, marking his second tenure with the team. Last season, he helped the Jets’ wideouts, led by Garrett Wilson, achieve strong numbers. Jefferson, who has been coaching in the NFL for 21 seasons, has previously coached for the Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Miami Dolphins. As a player, he had a solid career with four NFL teams, totaling over 7,000 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Charles London – Quarterbacks
With nearly 20 years of coaching experience, London joins the Jets as quarterbacks coach after a successful stint with the Seattle Seahawks. London’s coaching career has included roles with the Bears, Eagles, Titans, Texans, and Falcons. He helped Geno Smith achieve a career year in 2024, and prior to that, worked with running backs in both college and the NFL.
Nic McKissic-Luke – Running Backs
McKissic-Luke joins the Jets after coaching running backs at the University of Minnesota for the past two years. In his time with the Gophers, he helped produce a standout rushing attack. He has previously coached at Northern Illinois, Youngstown State, South Dakota State, and Benedict College.
Brian Natkin – Assistant Offensive Line
Natkin comes to the Jets after serving as co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Colorado State University Pueblo. He also spent time as the Cardinals’ assistant offensive line coach from 2019-2022. Natkin had a brief NFL playing career and has coached both offensive line and tight ends at various college programs.
Walter Kusmirek – Offensive Assistant
Kusmirek, who joined the Jets in 2024, previously served as the offensive line coach at the University of Rhode Island. His coaching career has also included stops at New Haven, SUNY Morrisville, and Wagner College.
Junior Taylor – Offensive Assistant
Taylor returns for his third season with the Jets as an offensive assistant. Before joining the Jets, he was the wide receivers coach at Northern Arizona and has also coached at Wagner College and Mesa High School. Taylor played college football at UCLA and later worked with the Tennessee Titans before landing with the Jets.
