Oregon State Football Levels Up with Major 4-Star Addition

National Signing Day 2025 may not have had the same buzz as in previous years, but one standout move certainly caused a stir at the Valley Football Center.

Four-star quarterback Tristan T’ia from Amador Valley High School in the East Bay has officially signed his letter of intent to play for Oregon State.

Before today, T’ia was the only 2025 Oregon State commit yet to sign. His commitment now adds him to a class of 14 signees, including 6 early enrollees, with his four-star rating making him the highest-ranked recruit. The rest of the class is made up of three-star prospects.

Oregon State offensive coordinator Ryan Gunderson shared his excitement about T’ia, saying, “Tristan’s throwing ability, athleticism, and leadership are exactly what we look for in a quarterback to run our offense. He’s also a football junkie with great game knowledge. He’ll be able to physically and mentally attack defenses, and I’m excited for his future at Oregon State.”

T’ia had 11 scholarship offers from Division I schools, but he chose Oregon State over the likes of Utah, Boston College, and others. On X.com, he explained his decision: “I chose Oregon State because of its culture and the way they operate. Culture is a huge part of my life, and that’s what it came down to.”

This past fall, T’ia was exceptional, completing 75.7% of his passes with an average of 16.5 yards per completion. He threw for 268.4 yards per game, with 32 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions. Additionally, T’ia showcased his dual-threat abilities, rushing for 18 touchdowns and 871 yards on 107 carries. He led Amador Valley to a NorCal league title and a state championship appearance, earning Bay Area Football Athlete of the Year honors from WestCoastPreps.com.

T’ia will join a quarterback group that includes Duke transfer Maalik Murphy, returning backup Gabarri Johnson, and redshirt freshman Kallen Gutridge.
