Though the 2025 recruiting class is still fresh, there’s already significant optimism surrounding Oregon State’s 2026 class. The Beavers have secured two promising early commitments: Clovis (California) quarterback Deagan Rose and Lake Oswego (Oregon) running back LaMarcus Bell, both of whom have the potential to be major stars.
In contrast to the 2025 cycle, where Oregon State only landed three players in the top 1,000 recruits according to the 247Sports composite rankings, with none in the top 500 (Tristan Ti’a ranked No. 501), Rose and Bell would both have ranked as standout recruits in last year’s class. Both players are expected to rise in the rankings.
Rose, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound quarterback, committed to Oregon State in July 2024 and had offers from top programs such as Arizona, Auburn, Boise State, Oregon, and Virginia Tech. Over his sophomore and junior years, he amassed 5,612 passing yards, 50 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions. Currently ranked as the nation’s No. 20 quarterback, Rose could earn a fourth star as he refines his game and reduces turnovers. His physical tools make him a potential centerpiece for Oregon State’s offense.
Bell, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back, is the No. 2 player in Oregon for the 2026 class and was named the 6A Offensive Player of the Year. He led Lake Oswego to an undefeated regular season and is considered the most explosive running back Oregon has seen since All-American Bowl selection Casey Filkins. As a junior, Bell rushed for 1,538 yards, 25 touchdowns, and averaged 8.9 yards per carry. Like Rose, Bell has blue-chip potential and could also be rated as a four-star prospect soon.
Bell’s value extends beyond his talent; he’s a top-tier in-state recruit who could play a key role in recruiting other high-level Northwest prospects. Securing his commitment early gives Oregon State a strong peer recruiter for future classes.
While the 2025 recruiting cycle was challenging for Oregon State, with the Beavers struggling to compete for blue-chip talent, things have shifted positively. The program recently had success in the transfer portal, bringing in notable players like Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy and Miami tight end Riley Williams. With two strong 2026 commitments already in place, Oregon State has the potential to put together a class that could define the future of the program. It’s still early, but the signs of a transformative recruiting effort are clear.
