ASU RB is the sole Sun Devil to receive an NFL Combine invitation

The 2025 NFL Combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, from February 24 to March 3. According to a league announcement, 329 prospects have been invited to participate in the formal scouting workouts.

Surprisingly, only one player from Arizona State made the cut, but Sun Devil fans likely saw this coming. Running back Cam Skattebo will represent Tempe in Indianapolis, aiming to impress NFL scouts and boost his draft stock.

The senior, who transferred from FCS Sacramento State in 2023, took the college football world by storm in 2024. He finished second only to Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty (a Heisman Trophy finalist) in all-purpose yards, accumulating 2,316, and set a new ASU record with 24 total touchdowns.

Even though he didn’t receive national recognition (finishing fifth in the Heisman voting), Skattebo put on a show during ASU’s double-overtime loss to Texas in the Peach Bowl, a College Football Playoff quarterfinal. If he didn’t have the nation’s attention before, he certainly has now.

Cam Skattebo Deserves More Draft Attention Than He’s Getting

Over the past two seasons at ASU, Cam Skattebo has proven he’s a versatile player ready for the NFL. While his size (5’11”, 215 pounds) may not stand out, his build and playing style should remind scouts of some of the best talent in the league.

Skattebo is nearly impossible to stop. His yards after contact ranked second only to Jeanty, thanks to his remarkable balance and relentless leg drive, never stopping until he’s forced to the ground. Some see him as a blend of Marshawn Lynch’s power and Kyle Juszczyck’s versatility.

Scouts will get the chance to see Skattebo’s skills firsthand in Indianapolis, and hopefully, some general managers will take the time to meet with him. Sun Devil fans know his incredible work ethic, which should be a major positive for any team considering him.

Despite his impressive stats, most mock drafts don’t have Skattebo on their radar until deep into the third round. He deserves to be picked higher, and the disrespect he’s receiving will likely fuel his determination, just like it did last season. The team that selects him will be getting a future utility star at a great value.
