Steelers’ top talented QB have been included in the NFL trade proposal

Once the clock hit zero in the divisional round playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams, rumors surrounding Matthew Stafford’s future with the Rams began to swirl. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback has expressed that he still has a lot of good football ahead of him, but there are growing signs that his time with the Rams might be coming to an end.

Stafford’s wife, Kelly, has subtly hinted at a potential team switch through both Instagram and her podcast. She posted a blurry photo of herself and Stafford with the caption, “The future might be blurry, but the present is always clear with you.” Additionally, the Rams owe Stafford a $4 million roster bonus if he remains on the roster three days into the new league year, which suggests that if a trade is going to happen, it will likely occur around March 12 or 13.

CBS Sports proposed a trade scenario where the Steelers and Rams would swap first-round picks in 2025. In exchange, the Steelers would offer the Rams a 2025 second-round pick and a conditional second-round pick in 2026 for Stafford.

Despite being 37 years old, Stafford remains one of the NFL’s top 10 quarterbacks, and at worst, a borderline top 10 talent. He came very close to leading the Rams to the NFC Championship Game and likely the Super Bowl. He ranked eighth in success rate and 11th in QBR, proving he still has the ability to deliver in crucial moments. If the Steelers can secure him with this trade, it’s an opportunity worth exploring. It would allow them to keep their first-round pick and continue adding the pieces needed to compete.
