Four-star cornerback Justin Hopkins revealed on Monday that he has chosen to commit to the Golden Gophers, after narrowing his options to Tennessee, USC, Georgia Tech, and Minnesota.

Justin Hopkins has spent most of his high school career playing wide receiver and safety, but he’s poised to shine as a cornerback at the collegiate level. His versatility, however, could make him a valuable asset for Minnesota defensive coordinator Danny Collins. Hopkins has excellent agility and quickness, allowing him to change directions instantly and shut down wide receivers in coverage. His impressive athleticism and play-making ability from his time as a wide receiver will serve him well as a ball-hawking cornerback. This is a huge pickup for Minnesota, adding a dynamic talent to their defense.
