Dallas Stars Extend Sam Steel with Two-Year, $4.2 Million Deal

The Dallas Stars have locked in forward Sam Steel for two more seasons, signing him to a two-year, $4.2 million contract extension on Friday.

The new deal, which begins in the 2025-26 season, will keep Steel with the team through the 2026-27 campaign.

Steel, 27, has contributed 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) in 53 games this season, his second year with the Stars.

“We are thrilled to extend Sam for the next two years,” said Stars general manager Jim Nill. “His versatility at both ends of the ice has been a huge asset for our team. He’s a player we can rely on to make a positive impact and do the little things that lead to wins.”

Originally a first-round pick by Anaheim in 2016, Steel has amassed 134 career points (47 goals, 87 assists) over 392 games with the Ducks (2018-22), Minnesota Wild (2022-23), and Stars.
