Rangers’ Rising Stars Keep Streak Alive, but Off-Ice Trouble Hits

NCAA play carried on over the weekend with nine New York Rangers prospects competing.

Gabe Perreault, the 2023 first-round pick, scored his 12th goal of the season for Boston College on Friday night. While his team was on the power play and down 1-0 against UMass, the sophomore forward received a pass from Teddy Stiga and fired it into an open net to even the score.

Perreault displayed his exceptional skill and vision by netting the goal from below the circle.

Perreault finished with a goal, an assist, six shots on goal, a minus-1 rating, and a minor penalty. Drew Fortescue was also minus-1 with no shots on goal.

On Saturday, BC rebounded with a 4-1 win over UMass. Perreault extended his point streak to six games, assisting on the game-winning goal by Andre Gasseau, earning his 27th assist and 39th point of the season.

Perreault leads BC in assists and is tied for the team lead in points. BC dropped out of the top spot in the USCHO Poll but remains first in the PairWise Rankings. They face Vermont next.

Rangers 2024 top pick EJ Emery suspended

2024 first-round pick EJ Emery has just one assist in 29 games for North Dakota, but it wasn’t scoring issues that got him in trouble this past weekend. On Saturday, North Dakota won 3-1 to split the series, with Emery registering one shot on goal and two blocked shots.
