Steelers Face Offseason Loss of Two Major Players

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are poised for further offensive changes this season, with reports indicating that the team will be parting ways with multiple starters.

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are expected to let go of two offensive linemen, James Daniels and Dan Moore Jr., both of whom started at different times during the previous season.

“Some of those decisions have likely already been made. For example, they are not expected to re-sign two of their starting offensive linemen — left tackle Dan Moore Jr. and guard James Daniels — allowing them to enter the free-agent market on March 12,” Dulac reported.

Daniels started the first four games of the season before suffering an Achilles tendon injury. His departure is not a surprise, as the Steelers had previously indicated they would not engage in contract talks with him, signaling the end of his time in Pittsburgh.

Moore has been the starting left tackle for the Steelers for the past four years, and this move suggests the team is leaning toward giving younger players a shot. Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu have both impressed, and the potential addition of more offensive linemen through the draft could lead to further shifts on the line.

Revamping the offensive line could provide a much-needed boost for the Steelers, especially as they seem unlikely to land a top-tier quarterback. A strong offensive line could elevate an average quarterback’s performance, and the promising developments of Jones and Fautanu are enough for the team to make significant changes.
