Trent Bray’s coaching staff is quickly taking shape.
Today, the university announced the addition of five new football coaches: Mark Criner, Mikey Jacobsen, Adam Klein, Nick Pickett, and Oregon State alum Trevon Bradford.
Mark Criner will serve as the Beavers’ Defensive Quality Control coach. Criner spent the last four seasons as Southern Miss’ outside linebackers coach, where his linebackers ranked among the nation’s top units in scoring defense, turnovers forced, sacks, and tackles for loss. His background in the Pacific Northwest, including stops at Idaho (2007-12) and Portland State (1993-99), will be crucial for recruiting.
Mikey Jacobsen joins as the Beavers’ Offensive Quality Control coach. He spent the last four years as a graduate assistant at UCLA, primarily working with the Bruins’ wide receivers.
Adam Klein is stepping out of his comfort zone. After a successful playing career at Temple (2018-22), Klein served as a graduate assistant at his alma mater. This is his first coaching position outside of Temple, and he’ll join the Beavers as an offensive graduate assistant. It’s expected that Klein will focus on the offensive line, having played all five positions during his college career.
Nick Pickett returns to Oregon after playing safety for the Oregon Ducks from 2017-20. Pickett appeared in 45 games for Oregon and likely comes with a strong endorsement from former Oregon State defensive coordinator Keith Heyward, who coached him in Eugene. He will join the Beavers as a defensive graduate assistant.
Perhaps the most notable addition is Trevon Bradford. A star in both football and basketball at Oregon City High School, Bradford played wide receiver for the Beavers from 2016-21, starting 29 games out of 52 played. His 1,904 receiving yards rank 10th in Oregon State history, and his 151 catches are tied for 10th. After two seasons in the recruiting office, Bradford joins Trent Bray’s staff as an offensive graduate assistant.
