Formula 1 Exhibition to Open in Amsterdam This Year

Amsterdam will host the next stop of the award-winning Formula 1 Exhibition, with the immersive motorsport showcase set to open its doors on April 17, 2025, at the city’s historic De Kromhouthal venue, organizers announced this week.

The Formula 1 Exhibition, celebrating the Netherlands’ rich motorsport legacy, will showcase dedicated exhibits highlighting the country’s impact on the sport since its start in 1950. Seventeen Dutch drivers, including four-time world champion Max Verstappen, have competed in Formula 1. Verstappen’s recent dominance has sparked a surge in the sport’s popularity in the Netherlands, fueled by the passionate “Orange Army” supporters.

After a successful run in London—where it won the “Best Visitor Experience” award at The Access All Areas Awards—and a recent stop in Buenos Aires, Amsterdam will be the sixth city to host the exhibition. The event will feature contributions from F1 teams, drivers, and personalities, along with interactive exhibits, state-of-the-art racing simulators, and exclusive content to fully immerse fans in the world of Formula 1.

The exhibition kicks off with “Once Upon A Time In Formula 1,” featuring rare photographs, historic cars, and artifacts that highlight the sport’s most iconic moments. “Design Lab” offers a behind-the-scenes look at how F1 teams create their state-of-the-art cars, while “Drivers & Duels” honors legendary racers and memorable races from the past 75 years.

A captivating section called “Survival” recounts Romain Grosjean’s terrifying 150 mph crash in Bahrain in 2020 and his miraculous escape from the wreckage. The experience culminates with “The Pit Wall,” a cinematic finale that allows visitors to relive Formula 1’s greatest triumphs.

Emily Prazer, Formula 1’s Chief Commercial Officer, praised the event as a tribute to Dutch motorsport. “We are thrilled to bring the F1 Exhibition to the Netherlands, a country that has been at the heart of Formula 1 in recent years and has a rich, proud history in our sport,” she said.

“In Amsterdam, we’re thrilled to honor the Netherlands’ rich Formula 1 history, including the legendary Zandvoort racetrack and a remarkable legacy of F1 drivers, most notably Max Verstappen,” he said.

Ewoud van de Kamp, Senior Project Lead Exhibitions at Friendly Fire, the local organizer, added: “We’re proud to bring the F1 Exhibition to the Netherlands. This event blends the excitement of Formula 1 with an immersive and innovative exhibition format.”

The Formula 1 Exhibition highlights the sport’s global appeal, as Formula 1—owned by Liberty Media Corporation—has remained the world’s leading motor racing competition since its inception 75 years ago.
