One such move could involve adding Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin, as predicted by John Molnar in a Yahoo Sports article. Molnar suggests that Godwin, who was having an outstanding season before an injury in 2024, could take the Commanders’ offense to the next level.

If Godwin were to join, he would complement Scary Terry McLaurin in a lethal receiving duo. Known for his precise route running, Godwin could thrive in the slot, drawing targets while McLaurin faces double coverage. Though Godwin’s 2024 campaign was cut short by a dislocated ankle injury in Week 7, he still managed 50 receptions, 567 yards, and five touchdowns in just seven games. Over his eight-year career, Godwin has posted impressive stats, with 579 receptions, 7,266 yards, and 39 touchdowns, often serving as the Buccaneers’ No. 2 receiver behind Mike Evans.

If the Commanders bring him on board, Godwin could help elevate an already formidable offense. In 2024, Washington ranked seventh in total yards per game (369.6) and fifth in points per game (28.5), and adding Godwin could make them even more dangerous in 2025.
