Broncos Highlighted as Top Contenders for Vikings Pro Bowler!

The Denver Broncos are looking to bolster their running back position, and while there are several free agents and draft prospects that could fit the bill, one name stands out—Ashton Jeanty. A Heisman Award runner-up, Jeanty would be a no-brainer pick if the Broncos had the chance. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely he’ll drop to them in the draft, which leaves free agency as a viable option.

One intriguing veteran on the market is Aaron Jones of the Minnesota Vikings. Though he may not be the same dynamic player he once was, Jones still had a solid year, rushing for 1,138 yards. Outside of his standout 2020 and 2019 seasons, he’s struggled to find the end zone, with just 13 touchdowns over the past four years. However, he’s proven to be a consistent 1,000-yard rusher throughout his career, which would still make him an upgrade over the Broncos’ current options.

Scott Engel of NJ.com recently named the Broncos as “notable suitors” for Jones, acknowledging that while he could return to Minnesota, Los Angeles would be a good fit too. Engel also listed Denver and Pittsburgh as teams that could benefit from Jones’ versatility as a power runner with speed and agility, despite being 30 years old.

Though signing an aging running back always carries some risk, especially for a Broncos team that might be a year or two away from truly competing, opting for a younger player might allow the offense to develop together. Still, Jones could provide a steady, reliable presence if Denver decides to pursue him.
