Archbishop Riordan (California) wide receiver Cynai Thomas has been one of the top pass-catchers in the state over the past two years, recording 88 receptions for 1,406 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Given his impressive stats, it’s no surprise that Thomas has a wealth of college football options, even though he’s nearing the end of his recruitment process.
Thomas plans to announce his commitment on March 16, in honor of his great-grandmother, and has narrowed his choices down to Boise State, California, Oregon State, Utah, and Washington.
This week, Thomas provided insights on three of those schools with HighSchoolOnSI, revealing that he’s been in less contact with Boise State and Utah as his decision approaches.
Prediction: Will it be Arizona State, Oregon State, or Washington?
Arizona State Sun Devils: “Arizona is an amazing state. I’ve never been there, but I hear nothing but great things about it. Hines Ward is one of the greatest wide receivers ever. He’s a smart guy who’s been on the biggest stage. Talking to him was awesome—I felt like a better football player after our conversation.”
Oregon State Beavers: “I’ve been around the Beavers for years, with my brother [Skyler Thomas] playing there. Corvallis is a great city with amazing people and a passionate fanbase. They love the Beavs. Coach Pat McCann is a down-to-earth guy who knows the game and understands what it takes to reach the next level.”
Washington Huskies: “Washington was an awesome experience. The campus is beautiful, and their stadium is incredible. The fanbase is always great. Coach Kevin Cummings is one of my favorite people and has a strong understanding of wide receivers. I’ve built a great relationship with him.”
Thomas is ranked as the nation’s No. 57 wide receiver and the No. 39 player in California.
