The 2025 season for the Atlanta Braves hasn’t even officially started yet, and they’ve already faced a setback with the loss of catcher Sean Murphy. Murphy’s injury is expected to sideline him for the first two weeks of the regular season. However, his extended absence from spring training could mean he needs additional time to regain his batting form once he’s fully recovered
Given this situation, it would be wise for the Braves to strengthen their depth at the catcher position. Chadwick Tromp, the primary backup, has never played more than 24 games in a season. Meanwhile, top prospect Drake Baldwin has unexpectedly been given an early opportunity to make his debut. Still, this leaves the Braves without a reliable catcher for at least the first two weeks of the season, creating a notable concern.
