Michigan DB from pro day with fresh injury setback.

Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, a projected first-round pick, will miss the Wolverines‘ pro day on March 21 due to a hamstring injury suffered after the NFL Combine. While the injury isn’t considered serious, per ESPN’s Jordan Reid, Johnson will instead hold a private workout on April 14.

Johnson, who also sat out the combine, is ranked No. 11 in Reid’s latest mock draft and No. 9 on Mel Kiper Jr.’s Big Board. He played just six games last season, last appearing in October, but still made a significant impact. He recorded 14 tackles and returned both of his interceptions for touchdowns, leading the Big Ten with 128 interception return yards despite missing the second half of the season.

The standout cornerback was previously sidelined with a turf toe injury that tore ligaments in his toe, preventing him from running or planting until mid-January. At the combine, he stated he had suffered no setbacks in training until this latest injury occurred.

Johnson played a key role in Michigan’s national championship run and was named Defensive MVP of the College Football Playoff title game. He is widely regarded as the No. 2 cornerback prospect behind Colorado’s Travis Hunter but remains confident in his abilities, saying at the combine, “I believe I’m the best corner in the draft.”
