ECU Coach Sacked Among Three Board Members in an Amidst Controversy

East Carolina’s 2025 football schedule, released Friday by the American Athletic Conference, features seven games against teams that qualified for bowls in 2024, along with matchups against three programs ranked in last year’s final Top 25 polls.

For the second time in three years, East Carolina will start its season against a power conference opponent when it visits NC State on August 28. The two teams faced off in last year’s Go Bowling Military Bowl in Annapolis, where the Pirates secured their 11th bowl victory with a 26-21 win. The Pirates will play their home opener on September 6, hosting Campbell.

ECU will travel to Coastal Carolina on September 13 for the first-ever regular-season matchup between the schools. They previously met in the 2022 TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl, where ECU won 53-29. The Pirates will conclude their non-conference schedule at home against BYU on September 19 or 20, marking the fourth meeting between the two programs, with ECU holding a 2-1 series lead.

East Carolina’s 12th season in The American will begin when they host 2024 league champion Army on September 25 or 27. The Pirates lead the all-time series 8-1 since 1995. After their first bye week, the Pirates will play two consecutive Thursday games: at Tulane on October 9 and at home against Tulsa on October 16. Following another bye week, ECU will start November with a road game at Temple on November 1 before returning home for consecutive games against Charlotte on November 8 and Memphis on November 15. The regular season will conclude with road games at UTSA on November 22 and at Florida Atlantic on November 29.
