The Los Angeles Rams might have just pulled off the slickest move of the offseason yet. They snagged elite wide receiver Davante Adams, injecting a serious dose of star power into an already explosive NFL offense.
The Rams locked in Adams to team up with rising star Puka Nacua, giving quarterback Matthew Stafford a shiny new weapon to sling the ball to next season. Adams hit the open market after being cut loose, and the Rams pounced on the chance to bring him into the fold.
For Adams, it’s been a wild ride since leaving the Green Bay Packers in 2022. Traded to the Las Vegas Raiders that year, he dreamed of reuniting with his old college QB, Derek Carr, for the long haul—only for that plan to fizzle when the Raiders dumped Carr. Adams stuck it out in Vegas for a couple more seasons, but he and the team were never in sync. Last season, he pushed for a trade and landed with the New York Jets, linking up again with his ex-Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers.
That reunion flopped, too. Both Adams and Rodgers were cut loose early in free agency, leaving Adams up for grabs. The Rams didn’t hesitate, chasing him hard and landing him in LA.
ESPN’s *First Take* firebrand Stephen A. Smith praised Adams for the move. “Give Davante Adams his flowers for finally making a sharp call—something he’s missed on before,” Smith said. “Back in Green Bay, when Aaron Rodgers was waffling about retirement, Adams put himself first and bolted to Vegas. Not the brightest move. Derek Carr was his pal, sure, but that crashed and burned.”
“This time, it’s a whole different ballgame,” Smith added. “He could’ve sat tight, waited to see where Rodgers landed, and chased that old vibe again—not smart. Instead, he picks LA, where you’ve got a certified beast in Matthew Stafford. That guy’s a stud. He can sling it like nobody’s business.”
