Rams GM Confesses to Making Sean McVay’s Life Miserable!
Sean McVay has spent the last eight seasons leading the Los Angeles Rams, sacrificing the typical experiences of his 30s for the demanding life of an NFL head coach. Since taking over, he has guided the team to six playoff appearances and two Super Bowls.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rams general manager Les Snead reflected on their relationship, acknowledging the impact of hiring McVay at just 30 years old.
“We hired him when he was 30. That story’s been told, right?” Snead said. “Looking back, it was a no-brainer—we probably should’ve hired him at 29. But I always joke with Sean that while we definitely changed his life for the better, we probably also ruined it.”
Snead noted that most people in their 30s can balance their careers while still enjoying some freedom—something McVay hasn’t had as the Rams’ head coach. However, he emphasized their strong working relationship, describing it as a dynamic where they can “box it out” but still grab a beer afterward.
McVay’s coaching journey began at 22 as an assistant wide receivers coach with the Buccaneers before climbing the ranks through the UFL and Washington Redskins, eventually landing his role with the Rams in 2017.
