The Minnesota Vikings have recently confirmed that J.J. McCarthy is expected to be their starting quarterback. This was likely anticipated when they selected him in the first round of the draft last April. However, after he tore his Achilles, the position was handed to Sam Darnold.
Now, head coach Kevin O’Connell plans to move forward with the young quarterback, but the team still needs to find a backup QB for the 2025 season. Brett Rypien won’t fill that role, and Aaron Rodgers is not an option, at least for now.
